Passion, Dedication, and Joy are the best ways to describe Josh Lisner and his musical journey. Mr. Lisner happily holds the title of Director of Choirs and Vocal Music at Edison High School. Under his leadership, students have performed challenging and diverse repertoire, such as movements from Brahm’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem and Reena Esmail’s Tuttarana. Further, they have earned superior and Best-In-Class ratings while being acknowledged on internationally recognized venues such as the newly renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. They have also gained the attention of acclaimed conductors, composers, and music educators and are consistently invited to participate in festivals in the United States and around the World.
Lisner graduated Summa Cum Laude from the esteemed Westminster Choir College, earning a degree in Music Education. During his studies he cultivated skills in pedagogy, rehearsal technique, and conducting gesture. At Westminster, Lisner performed with some of the world’s leading collegiate choirs including: Westminster Choir, Westminster Kantorei, and the Grammy® nominated Westminster Williamson Voices.
Recently, Lisner attended the International Conductor Training Program at Cincinnati University. During this auditioned program six international conductors attended intensive instruction in score analysis, work with a professional chorus and orchestra and conducted movements of Bach’s Magnificat in rehearsal and performance.
Lisner is in demand as a soloist and chorister throughout the East Coast and the World. He has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Verizon Hall and Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy. He is on the roster for the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir where he sings under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and holds the position of Staff Singer at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville.
